What should I expect with BHRT?
1. Consultation: The first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Delozier. During this consultation, we will discuss your symptoms, medical history and treatment goals.
2. Evaluation and testing: Before proceeding with therapy, Dr. Delozier will conduct a comprehensive evaluation, which typically includes a complete blood panel. These tests help determine your current hormone levels and assesses whether you are a suitable candidate for treatment.
3. Customized treatment plan: Based on the test results and your specific needs, Dr. Delozier will develop a personalized treatment plan. This includes the dosing and frequency of the testosterone pellets.
4. Insertion procedure: Once the treatment plan is established, testosterone pellets are inserted. This is a minor surgical procedure performed at our office. We numb up a small area typically at the upper buttock area, then make a tiny incision to insert the pellets under the skin.
5. Post-Procedure Care: After the insertion, you will receive instructions on post procedure care to ensure proper healing and maximize the effectiveness of the pellets. Keep the area dry and some restriction on physical activity for 3 days.
6. Follow-up and Monitoring: Follow up appointments are scheduled to monitor the hormone level, and overall health. Adjustments to the treatment plan will be made based on the follow up labs and your results.
7. Pellet replacement: Testosterone pellets usually last several months before they need to be replaced. The frequency of replacement varies based on an individuals metabolism and hormone levels.
Throughout the process, is crucial for patients to maintain open communication with us to ensure the treatment is meeting their needs and to address any concerns or side effects that may arise.
